Bizarro Scamworld

I'll preface this by saying that I have been making online transactions for over a dozen years now, in just about every form possible. I've _never_ had a major problem over this time that didn't have an actual explanation or reason. Maybe I'm just lucky, or savvy, or whatever, but ....

I have NEVER seen so many scams being run than I do right now with plasma TV listings. Every day/week there is another site up with prices significantly lower than the competition, using one weird-ass payment scheme or another. Generally the sites will be up for 3 weeks and then disappear. Some seem to persist for longer. Some actually have a bunch of feedback on various reseller-rating forums, half of which may be auto-generated by the business themselves!

Is there are particularly obvious reason why this is happening at the moment? I mean, I almost want to test out some of these sites that have 'minimum purchases' with a credit card with good buyer protection just to see which ones are legitimate. Maybe I'm just missing something here, so if anyone has a clue please pass it my way.
