Picture but no sound through HDMI

Hi:

I just picked up a Sony KDL-32XBR4. I've hooked everything up as shown in the instructions.
I'm running my DVD into HDMI 1 and it works fine,
I'm running my HD cable box, Scientific Atlanta 8300HDC, into HDMI 3.
Get all the channels and great picture but no sound. I've tried it in all the HDMI slots and no change.
I shouldn't have to use audio cables.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
