i suggest you subscribe to a HT magazine like SGHT (Stereophile's Guide to Home Theater) or Curtco's Home Theater. You need
to learn a few basics, and these magazines regularly run articles about them. Having said that, there is a lot of good gear out there. Back in the 70's receivers were awful. Now, some of them are just amazing (and for 2 to 3 grand they should be). The best advice i can give you is to draw up a
reasonable budget, and timetable, to get the theater project done.
