Basically, bass is lacking, the higs are generally beamed to where you are not, and you will need to arrange the room around them, rather than placing speakers for best sound. Any permanantly mounted speakers have drawbacks if good sound is one of your goals.

For background or DPL surround use, they are at best, barely adequate.

And yes, there are decent (in class) speakers available for $250. Then again, I cannot see spending a lot on wall speakers anyway.
