Re: Improvments to RPTV's that work - - suggestions?

Sorry for not catching this post sooner. I am the one who posted the mods for painting the inside black if it is not already painted. Along with cleaning the mirrow and CRT lens, makes a drastic improvement in black level and color depth. As far as factory settings, that is best left up to a certified ISF technician. You can read my post below for the directions for gaining access to the inside. There were two people over at Audio Review who tried it and they confirmed my findings. As to changing the original screen to a higher gain after-market model, there are some tradeoffs. First the hifher gain screens are not avaliable for all models of RPTV's. Next is with a higher gain, watching with any light on in front of the screen degrades the picture just like a front projector does. Lastly is the price of the after model screens. They are very exspensive because there is not a high demand for them.
