forget about getting preamps or receivers capable of HDMI 1.3
dsd signal out thru' the hdmi output of ps3 are dumbed down to pcm.
and only about half of all bd movie releases are loaded with pcm soundtracks - and they are mainly sony movies, not always well known for great soundtrack mixes, aside from house of flying daggers, fifth elements, kung fu hustle, among a very few. the first 2's picture quality is really questionable. kfh's picture is a little softer focussed than i've expected. with an upscaling player like the dvp-ns9100es, the dvd disc picture quality is virtually no difference to the bd.
