Re: HDMI better video than DVI?

Question 1: Maybe. Some players turn some of their other outputs off when a HDMI connection is in use. If your player turns the analog audio terminals off, then you won't be able to do what you suggest but if it doesn't, then you will. This one all depends on your player.

Question 2: HDMI is backward compatible with DVI. You can use a HDMI cable with a DVI adaptor to hook a HDMI capable display to a DVI source output, or to send video from a HDMI capable player to a display with a DVI input. HDMI video is identical with DVI video.
