Proper set-up for Oppo 970 through HDMI to Pioneer 1019 HDMI-1

I hooked up my oppo 970 by HDMI to my Pioneer 1019 to HMDI-1.
Unbale to get sound from reveiver and picture to LCD.
Where did I go wrong in the set-up? Please advise
