For the best image, you would want the 3 fronts to be on the wall the TV is on or in front of. If they're in the ceiling above the TV, the sound will appear to be coming from above the action on screen... this can be especially distracting with voices, which will most always primarily be in the center channel.

However, if circumstances require you to put them in-ceiling, try to get some speakers that have pivoting tweeters, or a speaker that is like halfway in the ceilng like those Gallo ball speaker mounts... that way you can at least aim the speakers in the right direction.
