Denon receiver question. Do I really need 3D?

What else do I need that I might not know about? I've never even seen 3D. My daughter says I have to get 3D. She's 6.

I'm off in the weeds with this one:

I'm finally ready to upgrade my HT rig, starting with a receiver. My goals are: networkable, does dinosaur footsteps super awesome, and all switching in one place. I've had my eye on the Denon 4810 receiver below for a while. The 4810, however, is a little dated according to modern home theater equipment standards. It's been out for a couple of years already and is a little behind the curve compared to the hot new stuff that's out or is soon to be out. For example, it doesn't handle HDMI 1.4 video switching.

Just because the 4810 doesn't do HDMI 1.4, however, doesn't mean I can't have 3D video if I decide I want it. As long as I have a 3D capable display and a DVD player with dual HDMI outs, which all the ones that matter (Oppo) definitely do, I can still watch 3D video old school style using the switching in the display, just like I have been doing for the last however many years

Here's the deal:

Thanks to some guy over at avs who let fly with some pricing information before the mods disappeared it, I can get the 4810 new from an authorized Denon dealer for a little over $1700, plus shipping. That is a whopping 40% off its retail price of $3k. (Can you say product dump?) (And just what are the margins on these things, anyway?)

On the other hand, the unit with which Denon will soon replace the 4810 is going to be pricey. Right? Sure, it will be able to handle HMDI 1.4, and maybe even some other stuff that I need but don't yet know about, but it will be at least $3000, and probably even more.

So the question is this: other than 3D video switching capability, what other features are going to be worth the extra $1200+ that the 4810's successor is going cost me? I'd rather take that difference and put it to use in what's left of my budget on something like speakers or the display. Wouldn't I?

I've been thinking about it for a couple of days, and the more I do, the more I think this deal on the 4810 is too good to pass up.
