RE: PLEASE help, I'm left with no tv and I must buy now

My old one died and I finally came to terms with the fact that I must accept flat screen. I decided to go for 37in, but which of the following?
All around the same price: Samsung LE37C550 or PHILIPS 37PFL5405 or SONY KDL-37EX500.
Thank you.

My understanding is that most first-time purchasers of flat screen TV's regret that they didn't buy something larger. - Even Consumers Reports said the same thing. Remember that, because of the wider screen format, the height of the screen (and that of people in the picture) may be less than that of some CRT TVs.

My personal preference is a front-projection system, which can be set up for about the same as many medium size LCD panels. Our Sanyo PLV-Z3000 (now replaced by the newer PLZ4000) provides brilliant, crystal clear high-def pictures on a 92-inch screen, including HD TV programming, DVD's, blu-ray, etc. It's "decor friendly" (waf), because the screen is retracted out of the way when not in use.

A disadvantage of the front projectors is that they you may have to dim the room during the day for best viewing. - But then again, you shouldn't be wasting time watching it during the middle of the day often in the first place.

Just a suggestion,
Jim
