Need AV receiver advice for old Panny plasma.

Hi,

I'm an old stereo hold-out getting involved with multichannel and finding it befuddling.

I want to use a receiver (not bought yet) with TH42PZ80U but I am finding there seems to be AV sync issues with the Prog Out (RCA outs to a stereo pre/amp) and Digital Out (2.0 or 5.1 to a Samsung receiver) watching shows OTA or HDMI in from blu-ray player.

The sound from those outs doesn't sync with the video. The sync being out on teh RCAs is small but it's evident, and using the Digital Out is bad enough to make shows unwatchable. In both cases it's small enough I can't tell if the audio is delayed or advanced - old ears I guess.

As all a receiver could do it delay sound for AV sync, are the audio-outs in advance of the video so they can be sync'ed with a delay setting in a receiver?

What solutions, settings and receivers have other used? Does the receiver have to use EZ-Sync/HDAVI Control, CEC, etc. functions?

HELP!!

TIA

Dave
