Does the subtitle shift key not move the subs enough? With my TV they can be moved from about the middle of the screen to completely "below", in general. Yup, you don't get the BD all-region with this. At the time the patch came out, when the 83 was new, many Oppo buyers/owners would have had other-region DVDs, but probably not other-region BDs yet, so it was a major help. IIRC the 83 was the first Oppo ever that wasn't all-region.

[I was NOT talking about the firmware "hack". I hope that's clear. The hack does give all-region BD too. The hack will usually break whenever FW changes, I've never tried it though, I have all-region BDP already so no reason. However, the 83 is very good with DVD, and the software patch allows you to use its great DVD capability.]
