"decode codecs"

The word "codec" is short for compression/decompression. If it didn't "decode codecs", then it couldn't handle DTS or Dolby Digital. It would be kind of useless for a 2006/2007 product since Dolby Digital was available for DVDs in 1997 and DTS a few years later.

Perhaps you meant to say "decode the new lossless codecs"? If that's the case, then no, it doesn't handle codecs such as DTS Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD in their intended form.
