I never thought even 1080p was necessary on anything smaller than about a 46" screen. Unless you sit really close a 50" 4k is completely wasted. I've got a 1080P projector projecting on a 92" screen that I sit technically too close to and the picture is perfectly sharp. I'd like a 50" 4k computer monitor so I could have more windows open and visible but it's a waste for video.
