There are easy kits/hacks for them. The BDA forbids any BD player from being region free but there are lots of ways around this for my 83. I use this (see link). It took 10 minutes, most of which was taking the top off. Part of it actually plugs into an empty socket on one of the boards. Since Oppo was famous for their region free DVD players, I suspect they designed their BD players for easy hacking. Once its done, its done and will be automatically region free for DVDs, and its a push of a button for BDs.
