RE: Help w right video connection converter

That looks like an DVI-D connector [I do not see 2 small pins on each side of the spade contact]. If I understand you, that connector is attached to a cable going to the monitor you bought. If so it will not work with a passive adapter like the one you linked to, to convert to VGA. DVI-D does not carrier an analog video signal or ANY audio signal (digital or analog). To connect it to a VGA connector on the back of your computer you will need a more expensive active adapter. If your computer has an HDMI connector you can use an DVI-D to HDMI passive converter/adapter to connect the monitor to your PC.

If the connector does have the smaller pins around the spade [I don't see any] it is an DVI-I connector and will work with the passive adapter that you linked to.
