RE: Is a 4K HDTV under 65" better than 1080 blu-ray on a smaller screen? nt

Totally depends upon viewing distance. Also, quality of signal plays a part here to.

My 55" 4k looks MUCH better than 1080p, at nine feet viewing distance. Signal is a quality Blu-ray player, with an outboard power supply. Switching ps's are a compromise, and do not deliver the best pic/sound.
