A couple decent references for you:

"Meeting the Enemy: A Marine Goes Home", Suel D Jones,

"On Killing, The Psychological Cost ...", Dave Grossman.

Both ex-mil. Suel is a friend. Grossman taught this class at West Point. As a former medic, I've seen enough PTSD to not buy into the John Wayne war format. Now-a-days, every other person I pass has it. I feel the vibe. The glory thing helps bury the monster no one wants to look at.
