'Fail Safe': Holds up . . .

In 1964 I was in the tenth grade when I saw this impending doom of a story. It left an impression because of the intense performances. Walter Matthau's Strangelove/Chaney character nearly stole the show but Fonda's steady and forceful POTUS kept it grounded. I was surprised by how well it went for such an ancient film that can be contemporary whenever it is shown.
Funny, at the end there was a message from the Air Force assuring us this scenario can never happen. Sixty years later we are not convinced.
