'Together': Creatively Creepy

Posted by Billy Wonka on July 30, 2025 at 18:15:58:

Is Ari Aster in the house? It sure feels like it. An overarching feeling of ominous dread is achieved through quick cuts, a rapidly unfolding plot, impressive art direction, and artful cinematography. This story of love-in-doubt kept me both visually interested and intrigued as Franco and Brie struggle as a long-term couple fighting to stay connected. Their move to a small community and a lovely house doesn't turn out to be the answer. Especially after their first hike into the woods dumps them into an underground grotto that imbues something they cannot escape no matter how hard they try.

For me, 'Together' (with its vibe) is a comfortable second to 'Hereditary'. It is definitely not a "cheap" horror film desperately generating jump-scares. There is main character development and an interesting cast to fill out the story. Definitely a must-see for horror fans.
