Charlotte's Web, the live action version.

I was totally amazed by this movie..here we have something that had to have been done using primarily CGI animation techniques, and yet reality os tottally. Sure talking animals have been done before, most notably as Babe and in Pig in the City, but never were they done better than here.
When they said they were going to do this, I wondered, as the drawn animation version is very good and has remained popular for many years.
But give the movie people some real credit here on this remake. They remained true to the EB White story and in large measure to the drawn animation version.
Yet the attention to agricultural detail was totally remarkable here. Of course the North Country Cheviot sheep, an English breed, all spoke with English accents and voices. Charlotte the spider, voiced by Julia Roberts was nothing short of an amazing piece of what shall we call it "real life" animation.
In summary I was swept away by this movie. Dakota Fanning was wonderful in the lead role. Templeton, voiced by Steve Buscemi, was good, but not quite the equal of Paul Lynde in the hand drawn 1973 version.
But all in all a remarkable movie, somewhat overlooked, and a must have for my DVD collection
