I thought it was an excellent film, but then I'm over 50

Films with well developed characters and serious non-thriller stories simply don't get much attention in market devoted to the ADD-prone. I think most who would have liked it, saw it and did. I doubt that this kind of film will ever again be a "hit". We should just be grateful the major studios still have enough grownups in management to fund them at all.
I've always liked Chris Cox's low key intensity (except when he was pantsless in "Adaptation") and can't think of anyone else who'd have done Hansen better. He reminds me of a dark Gary Cooper. The role didn't need actor "gravitas". It was, after all, about a frustrated man who thought he had it, but didn't.
When you're circling the drain, it doesn't really matter whether you're spinning to the left or the right.
