Hannibal Rising

Posted by Duilawyer on September 16, 2007 at 10:40:48:

Oh, boy. Not much to say. I accidentally ordered the edited version, so I lost ten minutes of movie.

The kid playing Hannibal was good, appropriately creepy. Gong Li overacted but still looks good\great. It was ridiculous to watch the Hannibal character attempt to be written into a version of Matt Damon's Bourne character. Anthony Hopkins killed the people by charming them and trickery. Now they have the kid as superhero James Bond. Also, except for Das Boot, no movie I know succeeds in making you cheer for the bad guy. So when they want you to root for Hannibal to escape, its like, "Why?". And since we know he does anyway.

Nice photography, nice color palette. 3 stars out of five.
