Premise:
"Special" replicants are given implanted dreams so they have a basis from which to emotionally develop a personality -- ie. think they're human with history.Proof:
Implanted dream of Unicorn image that ONLY Decker knows and redreams over and over.Police sidekick into Origami, just happens to leave a clue that only Decker would fathom -- Unicorn left outide Decker's apartment and off-hand comment to the effect: "Too bad she (Rachel) won't live". How could sidekick know private dream unless it is in a file kept from Decker. Decker is supposed to terminate Rachel too, but won't be a hypocrite -- besides Rachel is a most becoming and suitable companion.
Side note:
Decker is needed to hunt down replicants, and as his candle does NOT burn twice as bright, he fits in and is tollerated.Rachel is a replicant too, but whose file doesn't reveal her termination time as indefinite -- Tyrell's toy.
Who knows, perhaps Decker and Rachel live forever? I didn't read the book.Rutger Hauer was superb.
