Lately the best of this genre I've seen is "Streets of Laredo" which is an adaptation of a Larry McMurtry novel and stars James Garner, Sissy Spacek, Sam Shepard and Randy Quaid as a *very* entertaining John Wesley Hardin

Made for TV, but it's a real Gem
