Walk Hard, The Savages and The Orphanage...

Posted by mkuller on April 28, 2008 at 11:30:51:

...these three films have nothing in common except that I watched them all on DVD over the weekend.

"Walk Hard" was entertaining and good for a few laughs as it spoofed Johnny Cash's "Walk the Line".

"The Savages" was well done about a dysfunctional family but ultimately depressing. Laura Linney deserved her Oscar nominatin for Supporting Actress.

Of the three, "The Orphanage" was my favorite. Guillermo del Toro's Spanish language film is very well done - excellent cinema photography, acting and it gets under your skin. In that way, it reminded me a little of "The Ring". Highly recommended.
