to the show's basic identity and does not go away.

I've been watching 3-4 episodes back to back and have found some little quibblebits with the show but then somehow it rises to overcome. It maintains its intelligence but throws us an occasional bone of the obvious so we don't feel too left out.

I like the things I've mentioned before and I also like it's strong, almost overt reference to the characteristics in the cheap old-time Saturday movie serials.

All these shows - Dexter, The Shield, The Wire, Sopranos, et al - are, after all, just smart soap operas.

There's some damn fine acting going on, too - the lead, his sister........some are bit over the top but that's part of the fun.

I'm about to watch the final disc and will decide if I will move to season two. Either way, I have no regrets about the time I've spent.
