"Mothra" was a favorite; the flying effects were, if possible, even worse than the regular ground and pyrotechnics work.

The stone statue come to life sounds a lot like the old Jewish legend of the Golem, which was in fact filmed by Paul Wegener in the 20es, but you are referring to a much more recent film in color. I wonder if what you saw may have been some re-working done during the period when American B-movie companies went to the Philliphines to shoot cheap films, mostly horror.
I can't add more than that; I am intrigued though at what it might be. Despite having wasted a lot of time on good/bad flicks, I can't recall seeing it.
