I've always thought that M. Redgrave's performance is one of the best male lead performances on film. I have a copy of both this film and the Albert Finney remake. The remake is not too bad, but, it is pointless to do a remake when the original is so good (particularly sad that the remake has Matthew Modine in an important role).
