classic which made a superstar of its leading man, Gerard Philipe--- and justifiably so.
A schoolboy's infatuation for the wife of a soldier inexorably leads to tragedy in this uncompromising film.
Micheline Presle is the wife unafraid to return his love even though it leads to disgrace and shame. Has there ever been a more attractive film couple or a doomed affair better portrayed?
