It definitely depends on the suspension of disbelief ...

I liked it for its relatively unsanitised depiction of poverty, corruption and torture and, of course, the attractiveness of the characters. I can understand its international success and it's good to see a British movie with a bit of an edge to it do well.

The (UK) Times showed it to a group of Mumbai street kids, who gave it their thumbs up, but it's really a film for those in wealthier countries with a niggling social conscience. (Who feels good about forking out on pricey audio goodies when the money could relieve a child's misery, even for a moment?)

I enjoyed it and was also pleased to see the issues woven into mainstream entertainment at my local multiplex.
