Slumdog Millionaire reminded me of

Strickly Ballroom with it's unabashed glitz and flash. But the similarities end there. Slumdog really attempts to pull at your heartstrings but is too unbelievable, you just stare at the pretty pictures (and Freida Pinto) and enjoy it for what it is, a guilty pleasure and fairytale.

How the Oscars reward this movie like they did is hard to take seriously
