tv drama shows did well in 1/2 hour.
It would have been better written, though.
When the dramatic conceit of a 2 hour film is whether or not a fat woman will sing... you know the writer had problems.
When two twenty-somethings lovers act like five-year olds on a playground, you know the writer had problems.
When yet another "serious" film is (partially) narrated by an impossibly immature young man, you know the writer (obviously one and the same young man) had problems.
One day, Malkovich will get the role he deserves.
This, very sadly, isn't it.
We know no more about this man than anyone sitting through his act. His dealings with the co-central character likewise are all superficial: one waits in vain for some sort of "showdown" which all good films at least attempt.
No.
This borders on a shaggy-dog story. Go see, "Liasons Dangereuses" or "Line of Fire" if you need a Malky fix.
This ain't worth a free HBO viewing.
(And would someone please take Emily Blunt out and buy her a meal? She looks like Stage 3 anorexia).
