RE: Haven't seen Videodrome

VIDEODROME (1983) is David Cronenberg's surrealistic/hallucinatory spaced-out working of the "Network" theme (1976), starring James Woods, Deborah Harry, etal. (another "look what TV will do to us" piece).
Gore, brutality, S&M, snuff, corporate indifference/technolgical conspiracy - all wholesome American/Global entertainment values that "TSHDT?" merely alludes to. VIDEODROME is an offbeat must see, and although it appears dated and rough today its thesis still holds up.
(BTW: If you can stand watching Jane, "TSHDT?" put Sydney Pollack and Jane Fonda up there as big league hitters in their time - worth watching for Gig Young's fabulous Emcee, and fantastic supporting cast -imo. Oh yeah, (spoiler!) and Jane is snuffed by the end, which some might like.)
