I just saw it today with my family...

...and my 19 year old daughter who used to love the book as a kid.

I thought the movie was excellent and it never failed to hold my interest.

The kid who played MAx did a terrific job.

It was obvious the creatures - who were very well done - represented people and emotions Max was wrestling with.

Spoiler alert:

My writer daughter thought KW represented his mother and Carol represented some of Max's emotional responses he struggled with.

I can see why some reviewers loved it.
