"Deep Crimson:" an extremely disturbing film by Mexican auteur, Arturo Ripstein.

An obese, neurotic mother of two falls for a small time con artist who defrauds lonely, vulenerable women of their life savings. These two hopelessly lonely creatures become involved and they soon embark on a murder spree that baffles investigators.
This is one of the most harrowing and black films ever made; what saves it from being savage alone is the beautifully cast and acted portrayals of the doomed lovers. These aren't society's victims or blood-starved thrill killers but rather complex characters who seemingly are puzzled by their own descent into murder.
Like all good films, this one will leave you with far more questions than answers. NOT to be seen by those easily disturbed by the tragedy.
Based, btw, on a true story.
