They're raping my childhood: Roland Emmerich to bring Isaac Asimov's Foundation to the big screen.

Ahhh, Hollywood. Emmerich can't wait. Gonna do the trilogy in 3D, because "that's the only way to film big movies now." UGH!

There's been talk of filming the Foundation series for years, the books have been in and out of development forever...but why couldn't it be someone besides Emmerich?

I confess I really do love science fiction. But man, I got no hopes for this one.

OTOH, I'm a fan of the novels of Scottish author Iain Banks. British director Dominic Murphy is is adapting a Banks short story, A Gift From The Culture, into a film. Murphy made the acclaimed indie movie White Lightnin', so perhaps there's hope.
