I really love the story and the look of the film is beautiful. Just the absence of CGI is a relief and even though it was shot in the 70s it really looks like it was early 1900s.
Sometimes my mind would wander a bit and the next thing I knew I was absorbed in another terrific interlude. This happened several times...
I am glad Kurowsawa did not commit suicide and made it...
