and the film. I don't consider it maudlin because I have no idea how gay people really feel or act but this film gave me a glimpse of what goes on in their minds in an intelligent fashion. Ironically, these "gays" were mature, behaved, and well bred. Of course, it was 1962 and things were still in the "closet" so to speak. Plus, the red herring student was a nice touch.
