Not ironic, but feeling a bit manipulated

It was getting late, so we stopped, but I am looking forward to finishing it.
I like it, but there is definitely some manipulation in trying to draw some parallels when the situation is oblique. I guess by showing nasty Jewish relative the director tried to tell us both of those people have some issues behind them. That is cool... but one should not lose the sense of proportion. In case of the Jewish girl there is danger of being denounced by her family. The palestinian is being told his father will be killed if he doesn't complete his mission. Hardly the same thing.
So far I chalk that as rather innocent game... as the film is humanist and thought-provoking - although I wish it was a bit more subtle.
There are some wonderful characters, very well played.
