Possibly the best performance in the film was by Beno�t Magimel, who played the young guy

He is actually a wonderful actor, with great career, and his biography highlights includes fathering a daughter with Juliette Binoche.
By pure coincidence next night we watched The Bridesmaid, and he was also in it, giving a good performance in the otherwise lame flick - another one of many such Chabrol's films.
