This is a taut crime drama set in Melbourne Australia. Opening scene shows a teenager calling his grandmother and flatly, emotionless, reporting that his mother had ODed and died. He goes to stay with the grandmother and his uncles, who commit various crimes, notably armed robbery. The police are onto the family and causing them great concern.
In this world, violence is always imminent. The teenage kid is thrown into this world. His position quickly becomes uncomfortable as the police see him as a weak point to get to his family, while the family also think he may be a potential weak point.
Briskly paced and expertly made, this one pulls you along through many twists and turns. All the performances stay with you, particularly maybe the grandmother, loving and protecting her criminal brood and cold to the core.
