I found this quite difficult to watch. In contrast to all the hokey "horror" movies that are made, this one puts one into a situation of real visceral horror, more visceral because it really happened. For those few who do not know the episode, I will provide no spoilers, but to say that a young healthy outdoorsman finds himself suddenly, completely unexpectedly, facing almost certain death.
For James Franco, this is almost a 1 person performance and he pulls it off, expressing a full gamut of emotion, talking only to a video camera. Danny Boyle's kinetic directing style brings the viewer inside bodies, into past and imagined present and future, sustaining interest in what would seem to be a restricted setting. But it's dark and sometimes graphic. Not for everyone.
