"A Crime"... When a Bad Leutenant meets the Silicone Girl

Posted by Victor Khomenko on December 17, 2010 at 13:52:57:

I am somewhat torn recommending this film. Like all crime thrillers, this one relies on plot line... plot line that fizzles towards the end - it loses its mysterious qualities and becomes purely Hollywodian creation. And if that was not enough, then the unimaginative ending truly drives the stake through its heart - treat this as a lame spoiler!

And yet... it is hard to avoid the typical Keitel spell... especially for those of us who don't mind seeing a lot of him naked... there ARE those among us... no? :) Be it as it may, I like the actor and he does what you expect him to do - he plays well.

Ditto for another "Universal Attraction" - Emmanuelle Béart. Long gone is the Mamon girls natural beauty... replaced by artificial catfish lips. Turns out, not just lips had received the silicone treatment, as she is so willingly lets us know. Truth is, she is far more titillating with her cloth - something you hardly expect. But such is the modern age, and take it or leave it - she also produces one of her better performances, and together with Harvey they create a wonderful ensemble with enough tension to keep you interested.

Yes, I do wish the two of them had found a better script... but life is not perfect, so this might be what you get today for your buck-fifty... you can do whole lot worse.
