My problem with Hamburger Hill

is that there is virtually no character development. I only saw it recently (on Blu-Ray of course), but I can't recall the names of any of the characters. Technically it's an accurate movie, but other than that it is forgettable. Platoon, on the other hand, is a fantasy, but the characters are so well done, and they stick with you.
