Tron 3D

Posted by grantv on January 12, 2011 at 14:17:13:

Spoilers.
Went and saw this last night on cheap night. I was told it was in 2D by my BIL's 2 nieces that came with us; nope, only in 3D. We're game and saw it anyway.
The movie itself reminded me of what I saw 20 years (?) ago, but obviously better effects, etc. The story line was similar from what I recall. The main girl Cora (sp?) is very pretty IMO. And the two teenage nieces that came with us thought Sam was hot if that matters to anyone out there.
Overall I'd give it 3 to 3 1/2 stars. It was pretty cheesy in a couple spots, and close to the end it dragged a bit. Overall though a pretty fun movie to watch.
Re 3D; I've only seen a handful of movies in 3D, it generally doesn't interest me, and I'd almost like to see this movie again in 2D just to compare. Yes, there were a couple times when something jumped out at me, but I'm not overly entertained by something jumping out at me. :) For the most part it just looked like paper cut-outs in front of other paper cut-outs (a good analogy I saw posted on video asylum just now). And I had to wear uncomfy glasses to see the few effects that did work.
If you liked the original Tron, check it out. If you like sci-fi movies, ditto.
