Delightful Escapism

Posted by Victor Khomenko on January 29, 2011 at 07:02:33:

With wife gone to bed, I pulled the DVD of The Duelists and sat back to enjoy it.

And enjoy it I did, from first to last minute... for many reasons, actually. Seen it many years ago, so this was like first time. What a great treat for any overgrown boy! Well, maybe except Patrick? :)

This might be the only Ridley Scott's work that I can take. Breathtakingly beautiful scenes coupled with very realistic action - what more would anyone need? The cavalry in the woods scene is one legends are made of.

If you have not seen it in long time - take a look... most of the film is done in one breath, with the exception of the ending that somewhat loses its pace and starts stumbling and generally getting onto your nerve. And of course a military buff gets a double treat.
