...made her a well beloved icon in Russia, her problems with former regimes notwithstanding.

Her most famous film, "Carnival Night", has been on Russian screens as frequently as Capra�s "It�s a Wonderful Life" on US ones...

Maybe someone here will write an eulogy...?
