RE: Ironweed

I love Ironweed too, but have yet to find a widescreen version yet on DVD. Tom Waites is terrific in this as well.
Into director Jim Jaramusch? His "Down by Law" (great score by Tom Waites), and more recently "Ghost Dog" are unique independent films with gritty tone.
Suggestion: You may like "The Great Santini" (1979); It's very well done picture about a Marine pilot and his family living in the Southern US , with Robert Duvall and Blythe Danner. (It may have been made for TV, but is available on DVD.)
